Lisa Acuña is a founding board member and the Public Relations Liaison of the Street School Artist Collective (SSAC). Through the SSAC, Lisa has gained valuable experience not only as an actor in numerous stage and film performances, but also working behind the scenes. She was the Production Manager for the SSAC’s first original stage production, “Donor” and has also produced three of their short films; Glory, The Surrogate and God Eternal within the Body. For the SSAC’s second original stage production, “Shock Talk in a Quiet Place”, Lisa worked as Stage Manager as well as performing in the production. Most recently, Lisa wrote, directed and acted in her first original scene study entitled “You Say it’s Your Birthday!” which debuted in March 2006.
Lisa’s television credits include Comedy Central’s “Reno 911”, “Chica Caliente” for Univisión, E.A.S.Y. for PBS and has been seen in numerous music videos for artists like Fat Joe, Master P, Lil’ Romeo, Silkk the Shocker, The Newsboys and Metallica. During the Van Halen/Sammy Hagar World Tour at the Universal Amphitheater, Lisa was chosen to be an official Bikini Girl onstage in front of 40,000 people. She has graced the covers of Street Customs Magazine and The Blvd. and models for Budweiser and Harley Davidson.
Lisa’s film credits include Groove, a leading role in “The Neighborhood” with Michael Olmos and rapper Kid Frost. She has also worked on numerous independent films including, “Trespasses”, “Golden Dreams”, “Day Shift”, “Eddie’s Dead”, “God Eternal within the Body” and “The Son is Rising”.
Born in Pasadena, California, Lisa grew up in the neighboring town of Arcadia. Performing at an early age with more emphasis in dance, she gained experience in ballet, modern/jazz, salsa, marengue, hip-hop, African-Haitian and gymnastics. She soon began taking acting classes and booked the first audition she ever went on, but decided it was time to move to San Francisco and finish college. Lisa received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Human Movement Studies/Exercise Science. Preparing for a Doctorate of Physical Therapy with a concentration in Sports Medicine, she worked directly with the San Francisco 49ers. However, she eventually left the medical field and decided to follow her heart and pursue her career as a performer. Lisa now resides in the Los Angeles area.
