Stephanie Carwin started her performing life
as a young dancer, making her transition to
acting in her theater debut at age 12. Benefiting
from a strong theater program at Santa Monica
High, she went on to obtain her B.A. in Theater
from UCLA. From there, she headed abroad to
Paris, where she got some real life experience,
a Master's Degree, and performed with several
theater companies. After that, while she was
living in Venice, Italy, she had the occasion
to attend the Venice Film Festival – it
reminded her that her first love was still the
cinema, and thus she returned to Los Angeles
to pursue her acting career. Since then, she
has appeared in many films, both big budget
fare like Stigmata and indie award winners like
I Am A Sex Addict (2005 IFP Gotham Award: Best
Film Not Playing in A Theater Near You) and
Recoil (2001 Best Feature Film at the Woodstock
Film Festival). Most recently, she wrote, directed
and starred in her own short film, Indiscreet,
based on characters she created for the 2004
Street School Artist Collective’s production,
Before It's Donne.
